The Result of a Manager’s Work = The Success of Their Team

October 18, 2025 By Olesia Ulianova

A manager’s true achievement isn’t in personal wins — it’s in what their team becomes under their leadership.
Your legacy isn’t your title; it’s the people you’ve grown.

Here’s what defines a real leader 👇

1. A Good Manager Genuinely Cares About People

Caring doesn’t mean being soft — it means being invested.
You want your people to grow, to learn, to achieve results, and to become better versions of themselves.

That only happens when there’s trust and permission to make mistakes.
Let your team fail safely — that’s how they learn to succeed independently.

2. Give and Receive Feedback

Growth doesn’t happen in silence.

  • Regularly discuss what’s going well and what can be improved.
  • Hold team retrospectives and individual feedback sessions.
  • Model openness by asking for feedback yourself — it builds mutual respect.

Remember: feedback isn’t criticism. It’s a mirror that helps people see how to become stronger.

3. Don’t Hire Matryoshkas — Hire People Smarter Than You

Some managers fear surrounding themselves with stronger professionals — the “matryoshka manager” syndrome.
They want to be the biggest doll in the set — the smartest in the room.

But true leadership means the opposite:

Your team should be smarter, faster, and more skilled than you.

Your role is not to outshine them — it’s to guide, develop, and unleash their potential.

Principles of Effective Remote Management

Leading remote teams requires trust, clarity, and a solid learning culture.
One proven model to structure growth is the 70:20:10 Principle.

The 70:20:10 Learning Framework

When you ask a professional, “How did you really learn to do your job?”
— this is how the learning breaks down:

70% — Learning by Doing (Experiential Learning)

The most powerful learning comes through practice:
solving real problems, making decisions, experimenting, and adapting.
That’s where confidence and true expertise grow.

20% — Learning Through Social Interaction

People learn from feedback, observation, and collaboration.
Regular peer discussions, mentoring, and managerial feedback accelerate growth more than any course.

10% — Formal Education

Degrees, workshops, and training programs matter — but they’re only the spark.
Real mastery happens when theory meets real-world experience.

💬 In short:
A manager’s results are measured not by reports or KPIs —
but by how many people in their team have grown strong enough
to one day lead others.
