As part of the General MBA program, we visited LEONI Wiring Systems UA GmbH — and it felt like stepping into the future of manufacturing.
⚙️ Six Sigma in Action — Less Than 0.5% Defects
It’s hard to believe, but a world-class Six Sigma operation runs here, in Ukraine.
The factory maintains less than 0.5% defects per million units — and it’s the largest under-one-roof plant in Europe, as well as LEONI’s best-performing factory worldwide for three consecutive years
(out of more than 80 plants globally).
👥 People Are the Core
What impressed me most wasn’t the technology — it was the people.
Teams combine employees with different education levels, experiences, and motivations, yet the engagement and performance remain exceptional.
Production workers often join with only a secondary education, undergo training, and are fully integrated into teams.
The results and bonuses are team-based, while responsibility is individualized.
🧭 Leadership Through Substitution and Trust
Team leaders have higher education or management experience — but more importantly, they can step in and perform any team member’s job when needed.
This cross-functionality builds respect, empathy, and real process understanding.
In IT, we still have a long way to go to reach this level of operational unity.
💡 Motivation Built on Loyalty and Transparency
LEONI’s motivation system is rooted in loyalty, respect, and shared purpose.
Even small details — like bilingual signage in German — reflect cultural partnership.
The mission is clear: deliver flawless quality and on-time products — within 10 days of order placement.
Each employee knows:
- the value they create,
- the reward they’ll earn,
- and can track their own metrics and file claims transparently.
🚀 A Glimpse Into the Future
Stepping inside LEONI feels like visiting the factory of the future — where advanced processes meet human-centered management.
Here, people aren’t “resources.”
They’re the most valuable capital – and that mindset is what makes excellence sustainable.
