Delegation isn’t about dumping tasks — it’s about sharing responsibility, authority, and trust.
Effective leaders delegate not to offload, but to empower.
🧭 Four Types of Delegation
1. General Task Assignment
Used when delegating goals to departments or business units.
💬 “Marketing needs to increase brand awareness by 20%.”
2. Detailed Instruction
Applied when an employee lacks experience or skills — e.g., interns or new hires.
💬 “Start by reviewing the data, then create the report using this template.”
3. Parallel Delegation to Multiple Executors
Several people work on the same project simultaneously.
Useful for stimulating competition and finding the best strategy or solution.
4. Parallel Delegation by Departments
The main task is divided into blocks or stages handled by different departments.
💬 “HR handles hiring, Finance manages budgeting, IT builds infrastructure.”
🧩 The Harzburg Model
A human-centered approach to management built on “leadership in unity with employees.”
Its goal is to activate internal motivation and encourage autonomy.
According to this model:
- each employee receives a clear task and area of responsibility;
- authority and competence are delegated to the appropriate hierarchical level;
- leadership focuses on trust and participation, not control.
🧮 The RACI Method
RACI is a framework for clarifying roles and responsibilities within processes and projects.
| Letter | Meaning | Role |
| R – Responsible | Executes the task | The “doer” |
| A – Accountable / Approver | Owns the result | The decision-maker |
| C – Consulted | Gives input before action | The expert or stakeholder |
| I – Informed | Is updated afterward | Receives the outcome |
| (Optional) S – Supported | Provides assistance | Offers help or resources |
⚖️ Key Rules of RACI
- ✅ Only one Accountable per task — there must be a single decision-maker.
- 👥 At least one Responsible — someone must execute.
- 📌 Every activity must have both A and R — ownership + execution.
💪 To delegate effectively, a leader must:
- make clear decisions;
- communicate tasks precisely;
- build emotional connection;
- motivate and inspire;
- track progress without micromanagement.
💡 Delegation isn’t giving away control — it’s creating ownership.
